Paul Boylan '88 Profiled in California Lawyer

Paul Boylan '88 graces the cover of the August 2010 issue of California Lawyer, where he is pictured alongside client Tim Crews, editor and publisher of the Sacramento Valley Mirror, a small Glenn County newspaper.  The accompanying article, "The Sunshine Boys," describes how Boylan and Crews "love to shake down recalcitrant bureaucrats for undisclosed government documents" using the California Public Records act and the Brown Act, the state's open meetings law.

"I don't know a better advocate for transparency in government than Paul," Crews states in the article.

Based in his Davis office, Boylan has been involved in several prominent open government cases, including Crews v. Superior Court, in which Boylan successfully requested financial records from the Glenn County Superior Court using the Public Records Act.  The case is credited with spurring the Judicial Council to pass a new rule granting broader access to judicial administrative records.
