Immigration Clinic Wins Cancellation Case

Thanks largely to the efforts of Grisel Ruiz, a 2009 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School who joined the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic during the 2009-10 academic year as the recipient of the Sutro Fellowship from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, the Immigration Clinic was able to win cancellation of removal for a Legal Permanent Resident client on June 30.

The client, who had been in the United States for nearly 20 years and had acquired her GED degree as well as degrees in child development and cosmetology, was released July 1.  Ruiz credited Psychologist Christopher Knight for pro bono contributions to the case.
