Professor Aoki Publishes Immigration Op-ed in Chronicle
Professor Keith Aoki published an op-ed, "Arizona-pick on someone your own size," in the San Francisco Chronicle on June 17. The article condemns a proposal in the Arizona Legislature that would strip U.S. citizenship from children born in the United States to undocumented immigrant parents.
Professor Aoki offers several criticisms of the proposal, concluding with the constitutional issues the legislation raises: "There is more than a century of settled Supreme Court cases and federal immigration law establishing birthright citizenship."
Keith Aoki is a professor of law at UC Davis. He publishes and teaches in the areas of intellectual property, globalization, critical race theory, and local government law. He was recently honored with election to the prestigious American Law Institute.
