Professor Amann Receives ABA International Rasmussen Award

Professor Diane Marie Amann has been selected to receive the American Bar Association Section of International Law Mayre Rasmussen Award for the Advancement of Women in International Law.  The award is given in recognition of her longstanding support and encouragement to women in the pursuit of careers in the field of international law.

Nominating her for the award were two dozen contributors to IntLawGrrls (http://intlawgrrls.blogspot.com/), the blog on international law, policy, and practice that Professor Amann founded in 2007.  IntLawGrrls has featured posts from more than 100 women judges, academics, and practitioners, from more than 20 different countries.  The blog has enjoyed more than 400,000 viewings since its founding.

Professor of Law and Director of the California International Law Center at King Hall, Amann also serves as a vice president of the American Society of International Law and board member of the National Institute of Military Justice.  She is an expert on the interaction of national, regional, and international legal regimes.  Professor Amann has been quoted and had her work cited in national and foreign media, among them the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal.

Professor Amann will accept the award at an ABA meeting later this year.
