Law School Hosts Asylum & Refugee Law Competition

Eighteen teams from law schools around the country took part in UC Davis School of Law's 3rd Annual National Asylum & Refugee Law Moot Court Competition held at the Federal District Courthouse in Sacramento on February 6.  The event is the only immigration law moot court competition on the West Coast and the only moot court competition in the nation devoted exclusively to asylum and refugee law.   Judges for the final round, which was attended by Dean Kevin R. Johnson, included Judge Carlos T. Bea of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Judge William B. Shubb of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California.  The New York University School of Law team prevailed in a close competition.
