Nick Bourke '06 Testifies before House Financial Services Committee
Nick Bourke '06, manager of the Safe Credit Cards Project at The Pew Charitable Trusts, testified before the House Committee on Financial Services in Washington, D.C. on October 8 on the need to strengthen the safety and transparency of credit cards for American consumers.
Bourke, who recently moved to Washington, has worked with companies in the financial services and high tech sectors, serving as product manager, marketing specialist, strategy consultant and legal advisor, with particular expertise in electronic payments. He helped to support the passage of the Credit CARD Act of 2009, and offered evidence before the committee that the "unfair or deceptive" practices the act seeks to curtail have continued since passage of the bill, and argued that Congress should move to accelerate the effective date of the measure, which is set to take effect in 2010.
