Professor Hing to Speak at Human Rights Advocates Event in San Francisco
Professor Bill Ong Hing will be among the featured speakers at an event honoring the late Virginia A. Leary at UC Hastings College of Law in San Francisco.
Virginia A. Leary, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor at the University at Buffalo Law School and Human Rights Professor at UC Hastings, passed away in April in Geneva, Switzerland. A pioneer in human rights law, she won the 2008 Goler T. Butcher Medal from the American Society for International Law for her outstanding contribution to human rights. She held leadership positions in many human rights organizations, including as a long standing member of the International Advisory Board of Human Rights Advocates.
Professor Hing will speak about human rights and immigration law at the October 19 event, which is being organized by Human Rights Advocates.
Bill Hing, a professor at UC Davis School of Law, is recognized nationally as an immigration law and community lawyering expert. He is the founder of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center in San Francisco.
