Professor Lisa Pruitt Addresses Women Lawyers of Sacramento
Professor Lisa R. Pruitt was the featured speaker at a luncheon hosted by the Women Lawyers of Sacramento (WLS) on September 24. Pruitt, who has been an active advocate for increasing opportunities for women within the legal profession and legal education, spoke about "waves" of feminism and the differences among generations of feminists. Her presentation addressed the aspirations, expectations, and career prospects of the generation of women now in law school-women who sometimes embrace the term "third-wave feminism."
Several members of the King Hall community were present, including Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations Jean Flournoy Korinke, Professor Emeritus Martha S. West, Alumni Board Members Charity Kenyon '77 and Kara Ueda ‘00, and alumnae Amy Williams '05, Sarah Asplin '08, and Kim Lucia '09. About 25 current King Hall students were also in attendance.
Professor Lisa R. Pruitt teaches feminist legal theory, law and rural livelihoods, sociology of the legal profession, and torts at the UC Davis School of Law.
Women Lawyers of Sacramento is the leading women's bar association in the Sacramento Valley. WLS was founded in 1962 and is dedicated to the advancement of women in the legal profession.
