Representing Civil Rights
Four civil rights attorneys - Scott Williams, a Berkeley attorney for American Indian Tribes; Pamela Price, an esteemed civil rights attorney in Oakland; Erica Tomlinson, a Sacramento Immigration Attorney; and Patti Roberts, a devoted civil rights attorney and Guild activist - will speak about their experiences as practicing attorneys within various civil rights movements. They will discuss what has changed over the course of their careers and speak to where they think we are headed. Food provided by: Sophia's Thai Kitchen.

The Effects of Poverty on Civil Rights
Professor Lisa Ikemoto will discuss health care in poor communities, Nwamaka Agbo from the Ella Baker Center Green Collar Jobs Campaign will discuss environmental racisim, and Mark Merin will discuss displacement of the homeless in Sacramento and our treatment of the poor generally. Immigrant Rights Movement
Julia Mass from the ACLU will be discussing the effect of the war on terrorism has had on immigrants' rights. Professor Chacón will be speaking about her latest publication, addressing the meaning of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for the immigrants' rights movement, and Kim Seelinger from the UC Hastings Refugee and Human Rights clinic will be discussing asylum issues in the US.
