Rachana Shah earned both her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in Government and law degree from Harvard University. While at Harvard, Shah spent summers working for Senators Evan Bayh and Edward Kennedy. Upon graduating from law school, Shah joined the Employment and Labor group of Sidley Austin LLP at its Chicago headquarters, where she both counseled clients on employment practices and engaged in litigation on their behalf. During her time at Sidley Austin, Shah also had the opportunity to work on numerous pro bono projects, earning her a place on Sidley Austin's Honor Roll for pro bono service. Among other projects, Shah represented an inmate on death row in rural Alabama and coached a mock trial team on Chicago's South Side.
Full Biography...With the appointment of the Hon. John A. Mendez to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, Shah left Sidley Austin to join his chambers as a law clerk. While in Sacramento, Shah participated in Operation Protect and Defend, a program designed to teach high school students about the Constitution.
