Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship for Public Interest
Deadline: February 6, 2013
This scholarship was established by the Foundation of the State Bar of California to assist law students with the cost of their bar examination. The top winners will receive Bar/Bri Bar Exam Review Courses and the rest of the winners will receive awards to help pay Bar exam and related fees. Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate a long-term commitment to public service.
Requirements:

Candidate must be:

Graduating or have graduated from a California law school in the 2010-2011 academic year; and
-
Taking the California Bar Exam in 2011 for the first time.

Candidate must demonstrate and document a strong commitment to public service, intent to pursue a public interest legal career after law school, and financial need, as shown by financial aid eligibility and outstanding educational loans.

Candidate must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA or equivalent on a 4.0 scale (or provide an explanation of extenuating circumstances if GPA is lower than 2.5) and provide the grading curve used at Candidate's law school.

Candidate's law school must certify:

Candidate's actual or anticipated graduation date;

Good ethical standing of Candidate while attending law school; and

Candidate's financial need.

Candidate must have filed his/her application for Moral Character Determination with the State Bar of California by the Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship Application deadline. Each law school in California may nominate up to four candidates for the Rosenthal Scholarship.
