Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Appellate Court Summer Clerkship program for 1Ls
Application Period: Applications are accepted beginning February 1, 2013
Deadline: February 22, 2013 12 PM
The Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Appellate Court Summer Clerkship program is for 1st year students to experience working with 6th District Appellate Court Lawyers while earning a scholarship for the summer. One student will be placed with 6th District Associate Justice Miguel Marquez for the summer. Given the historic under-representation of minority lawyers in large law firms, the Program seeks to provide a means for exposing Latino law students to a high profile legal experience. Students who wish to apply for the Program must submit application packets to the La Raza Lawyers in accordance with the application instructions and by the application deadline. A completed application includes: (1) the application cover sheet; (2) a resume; (3) a personal statement written following the guidelines provided; and (4) a legal writing evaluation. Candidates will be interviewed by Justice Marquez and his staff and be evaluated based on community activities and writing ability.
Award: $5,000 scholarship awarded by La Raza Lawyers
