Battle of the Bands Fundraiser for Family Violence Appellate Project (Career News for June 11, 2013)

Thursday 13 June @ 6.30pm, 1015 Folsom, San Francisco For one night only, 7 bands of lawyers will compete on one stage for pride, honor, glory, and an awesome nonprofit organization, the Family Violence Appellate Project (FVAP). Bands come from Google Legal, Bingham McCutchen, Quinn Emanuel, Jones Day, Kirkland & Ellis, O'Melveny & Myers, and Morrison & Foerster. Over 40 law firms and companies from across the Bay Area will be in attendance. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to helping FVAP represent survivors of domestic violence on appeal when they and their children are in danger of ongoing abuse. The American Association for Justice (AAJ) offers more than $20,000 in annual scholarship funds, as well as programs for law students to enhance their legal education by attending AAJ's 2013 Annual Convention in San Francisco, CA. For more information about individual scholarships, and eligibility requirements, please click here . Applicants for AAJ scholarships must be AAJ Law Student Members. Law Students can join at the rate of $15. Student membership applications can be found here . Annual Summer Pro Bono and Public Interest Forum (Career News for May 21, 2013)

The Washington Council of Lawyers' annual Summer Pro Bono and Public Interest Forum will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from noon - 2:30 pm, at Arnold & Porter (555 12th Street). The keynote speaker will be Legal Services Corporation President James Sandman , a lawyer who has distinguished himself in private practice, government service, and the nonprofit world. Attendees will then have the opportunity to attend a panel presentation on one of several different substantive areas of pro bono and public interest law.
