Lawrence Brown '89 Appointed to Sacramento Superior Court Bench
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Lawrence Brown '89 to the Sacramento Superior Court bench, the governor's office announced last week.
"I am honored that the governor has bestowed this trust in me, and am very excited to begin this next chapter in my professional career," said Brown, who spent 10 months of 2009 as acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California before the Obama administration appointed Benjamin Wagner to replace McGregor Scott, who resigned in October 2008.
A 1999 Law School Alumnus of the Year who has taught courses on legislative process at King Hall since 1998 and has been a regular speaker at the Law School's annual Capitol Tour and Reception, Brown served from 1993-2008 as second-in-command to Scott. Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, Brown was executive director of the California District Attorneys Association from 1996-2003. He began his career as deputy district attorney in Ventura County from 1989-1994. He fills a Superior Court vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Kenneth G. Peterson.
